PHYS 3433
Quantum Mechanics 1
Careful attention is given to establishing the fundamental concepts of the theory. Topics include discussion of the wave function and the Fourier integral; solutions of one-dimensional systems, including the harmonic oscillator; operator methods and matrix mechanics; solutions of three-dimensional systems, including one-electron atoms; and time-independent perturbation theory. Prerequisite(s): PHYS 2413 or PHYS 2423, MATH 2723 or MATH 2023, and MATH 2753 or MATH 2013.
