Resilient Cities by Design

3 credits · Undergraduate

A capstone class with the objective to design spatial interventions based on infrastructure capacity, site constraints, behavior patterns of users, environmental and demographic considerations. Emphasis on cities including transit networks, access to facilities, road networks and analysis of mobility and census data. Student teams will identify a challenge within a selected site, e.g. mobility, energy & environment, water, waste, health, security, and the built environment. Student teams design and prototype an innovation that addresses this challenge using computational methods based on data-driven optimization, network science and machine learning. Students will present projects to guest judges.
