Financial and Behavioral Economics

This course is an advanced class in financial economics with an emphasis on behavioral finance. It examines how cognitive and social psychology influence investment decisions and financial markets. Topics include asset prices and market efficiency, noise trading and limits to arbitrage, investor beliefs and biases, momentum and over- and under-reaction, speculative bubbles, prospect theory, behavioral household finance, bounded rationality, and behavioral corporate finance. The course emphasizes analytical models and is mathematically intensive, using calculus and statistics.
