Introduction to Data Structures and Software Engineering
The Introduction to Java and Software Engineering course provides important principles and techniques that you can use to minimize overall development and maintenance time when writing computer programs. To that end, we introduce the Java programming language, a widely used programming language that supports these best practices, though these practices can be applied in other languages as well. The course assumes familiarity with at least one programming language, not necessarily Java.
Topics
- This course will begin by introducing the Java programming language and tools for compiling and running Java programs. We will then introduce some essential software engineering practices in the context of implementing linked lists and array lists.
- After completing the course, students will have a basic familiarity with Java, an understanding of basic software engineering practices and how Java supports them, and how lists can be implemented in many different ways.
