Model Predictive Control for Energy Systems - Introduction

1 credits · Graduate

Predictive control is the discipline of feedback control where forecasts are used to change in real time the behavior of a dynamical system. Optimization-based control design is a highly requested skill from a number of industries, including energy, automotive, aerospace, process control and manufacturing. Forecasts are fundamental in the new generation of autonomous and semi-autonomous energy systems. This course covers the basic design of applied predictive control. The student will be exposed to how to apply predictive control design and analysis tools to classical and modern control problems with application to renewable energy systems including solar power plants, energy storage systems and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HV
