GEOG 33
Black Geographies
Black Geographies examines how Black life and thought reshape understandings of space, place, and geographic knowledge. The course introduces students to Black geographic scholarship by tracing how racial formations are made through landscapes, institutions, movement, and everyday spatial practices, while also attending to the ways Black communities produce forms of belonging, relation, and collective life. Moving across the United States, the Caribbean, and the wider African diaspora, students learn to read places, policies, environments, and social worlds through Black geographic thought.
