Human Physiology Laboratory

3 credits · Undergraduate

IB 132L integrates human physiology with hands-on experimental investigation. Students explore how physiological systems function and interact, how physiological processes are measured, and how to interpret physiological data. Laboratory investigations include membrane potential recordings, skeletal muscle responses to electrical stimulation, electromyography, pulmonary and cardiovascular testing, electrocardiography, and frog heart contractility and regulation. Students design experiments, analyze data, and communicate findings through scientific writing and oral presentations. In two independent investigations, students develop questions and hypotheses, design and conduct experiments, and present their findings in symposia.
