Shaping the Landscape: Topographic form and Design Innovation

3 credits · Graduate

This course provides graduate students in the Master of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning program with advanced training in the art, science, and emerging technologies of topographic form and landform construction. Students learn to apply mathematical calculations, hand drawing, and digital tools to resolve grading problems in the three-dimensional physical environment through two-dimensional representation. Through focused study, Shaping the Landscape: Topographic Form and Design Innovation develops fundamental skills in topographic design through a series of iterative exercises that integrate the technical tools of grading with the formal and spatial concerns of landscape architecture.
