LS 22
Sense and Sensibility and Science
This course aims to equip students with basic tools to be better thinkers and decision makers both individually and collectively. It explores key aspects of scientific thinking that help us overcome the human tendency to fool ourselves including: strategies to reason probabilistically, evaluate causal claims, model reality, avoid reasoning biases, and learn from disagreement. It then connects these strategies to group decision-making, with the ultimate goal of bettering the world.
