Literary Manchu II

This course provides a chrestomathy to Literary Manchu. After a brief introduction to bibliography and research methods, students are immersed in reading Manchu texts. Readings are selected to cover a broad range of genres but also according to student need or interest. Genres include letters, official documents, Buddhist scripture, historical chronicles, and literature. The course is intended for students with facility in literary Manchu. Completion of Literary Manchu I (MANCHU 100A) or instructor permission is pre-requisite. Course repertoire varies from semester to semester according to the needs and interests of students. With change of repertoire, the course may be repeated indefinitely for additional credit.
