MECENG 231
Advanced Computational Design of Planar Machinery
Advanced synthesis, analysis, and design of planar machines. Kinematic structure, graphical, analytical, and numerical analysis and synthesis. Computational methods for the design of linkages.
Topics
- Students will learn to define, choose, and apply various techniques for mechanism synthesis and analysis. Students will learn to distinguish between these techniques to evaluate and generate different linkage designs to perform specific tasks. Students must then interpret and critique solutions from a product design perspective and verify outcomes. Students will translate advanced concepts from kinematics into computationally refined solutions.
