Diagnosis and Treatment of Posterior Segment Ocular Disease
The course begins with lectures on diagnostic testing: fluorescein angiography and optical coherence tomography. Knowledge of these tests will help clinicians understand and interpret images presented in subsequent lectures. The course then proceeds with topics commonly tested by National Boards. These topics include retinal vascular problems, diabetic complications of the posterior segment, macular degeneration and other posterior segment conditions. The section after the Boards will focus on the optic nerve and glaucoma -- topics that have been introduced earlier in the Berkeley curriculum. There will be two classes dedicated to review, providing clinicians an opportunity to test their understanding of key concepts and to ask questions.
