3 credits · Undergraduate

An anti-racist approach to introduce students to the topic of Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health (MCAH) and to the various social and political factors that influence its current role within public health. This introductory course utilizes content from a diverse range of areas including community health, reproductive health, policy, psychology, and pediatrics. The course begins with an overview of the public health field and builds by reviewing the history of MCAH. It will then follow a life-course format, studying the roles of existing policies and public health programs in maternal and perinatal health, as well as in the pivotal developmental stages of infancy, childhood, and adolescence.
