Theories and Methods in Queer and Trans Praxis

4 credits · Undergraduate

This small capstone seminar (15 students, maximum) provides an introductory overview of theories and methods in Queer and Trans Praxis studies. It addresses the specifics of different theorizations that in English are called trans, lesbian, bi-sexual, intersex, gay, Two-Spirit and other kinds of designations. The course addresses questions such as: how do critical decolonial theoretical and methodological approaches in queer studies differ from other kinds of approaches? What sorts of materials constitute a queer archive and how might queer archives be similar to or distinct from other kinds of archives? What is a critical queer approach to any archive?
