Frontier AI in Mathematical Research
This is a one-of-a kind course that explores a new approach to modern mathematics, far from the standard mathematics curriculum. This course redefines how we do mathematics by integrating AI directly into the problem-solving process and will give the opportunity to solve research questions leading to publication. In this project-based course, students work in pairs to attack open problems in mathematics in tandem with frontier AI models. The problems are chosen to be accessible in their statements but genuinely unsolved—real research, not exercises, “challenges”, exams, or problems with known solutions. To do their work, students will have access to some of the most powerful versions of the current top AI models. This is a class for interested students with strong creative problem-solving skills and a high tolerance for experimentation.
