Introduction to the theory and practice of data visualization with a focus on perception-based encoding choices and data mapping, chart authoring paradigms, visualization ethics and interpretation, and visual communication. Prerequisite(s): 3 units from Computer Science 319, 331, or Data Science 311. Antirequisite(s): Credit for Computer Science 482 and either of Computer Science 583 or Data Science 482 will not be allowed.
