A research project in which chemical engineering principles are applied to solve a complex, open-ended problem. Conducted under the supervision of a faculty member on a topic selected by the supervising faculty member and the student. The project may be experimental, computational, analytical, or have design emphasis. Includes an independent study component covering the scientific process, ethics, review of literature, and writing scientific proposals and manuscripts. Prerequisite(s): Fourth year standing, or higher.
