ERTH 655

Unconventional Reservoir Characterization and Evaluation for Transitional Energy

3 credits · Graduate Programs

Fundamentals of fluid storage and production in unconventional (coal/shale/tight) reservoirs, core analysis methods, field-based reservoir and fracture characterization methods using rate- and pressure-transient analysis and diagnostic fracture injection test analyses; applications to hydrocarbon reservoirs and subsurface transitional energy pathways including geothermal energy, carbon storage, hydrogen production and storage and critical elements. Prerequisite(s): Petroleum Engineering 523, Earth 520 or 620 and admission to a graduate-level Geoscience program. Also known as: (formerly Geology 655)
