An introduction to modules over rings using the language of category theory with a special emphasis on commutative rings, including Noetherian rings and modules, the tensor product, the theory of localization, and an introduction to homological algebra. Prerequisite(s): Admission to a graduate program in Mathematics and Statistics. Antirequisite(s): Credit for Mathematics 607 and 511 will not be allowed.
