Advanced User Experience and User Research

3.0 credits · Graduate

This advanced course provides an in-depth study of user experience research methods and how they are used to inform design. Students take a deep dive into core methods including interviews, qualitative data analysis, and usability studies. They learn how to develop research questions, plan and conduct studies with participants, analyze what they learn, identify key findings, and use those findings to improve designs. The course is highly applied: students conduct extensive fieldwork throughout the semester and repeatedly practice the techniques introduced in class. Through hands-on projects, feedback, and iteration, students build strong practical skills in user research, evaluating interactive systems, and using evidence to guide design decisions.
