Crusades and the Middle East

This course explores the history of the Crusades (1099-1298) from a variety of Middle Eastern perspectives. We analyze key texts and objects to study the complexities of conflict; the construction of religious, ethnic, and gender identities; and cross-cultural intellectual and material exchange.
