The Road to Extinction

What does it mean for a species to go extinct? What factors drove them to the edge of existence and which pushed them off? Each week of this transdisciplinary course is dedicated to one extinct specie - from the Spix's Macaw (extinct in the wild) to the Northern White Rhinoceros (functionally extinct) - and the ecological, historical, political, cultural, and economic factors that led to their decline. The course charts the web of relations that cradle life and examines the technical and scientific processes that come together to determine the extinction of a species.
