ANTH 2510
Empire, Colony, Power
Colonialism, as many scholars have noted, has a long, psychic reach. The knotted fingers of empire are still curled around the exposed necks of the vulnerable, the marginalised, and the poor. This course offers an introduction to postcolonial theory and covers key texts on black scholarship, urbanism in the global south, the construction of the Other, and the neoliberal regimes that continue to shape, if not smother, the daily lives of postcolonial subjects.
