The Middle East matters to China, and China regularly seeks to portray itself as an influential and engaged actor on Israel-Palestine affairs (IPA). Through probing diverse scholarly literature, students are challenged to look beyond the headlines and critically probe the evolution, nature, and depth of China-IPA relations, providing them the intellectual tools needed to understand these complex relations. By studying the interdependency and interconnectivity of domestic, regional, and global politics relevant to China-IPA relations, this course also enables students to situate major studied themes and concepts within broader historic and contemporary geopolitical contexts.
