International Finance

1.5 Credits · Level: Graduate, Juris Doctor, Undergraduate

This course in international finance focuses on international valuation and international capital budgeting, as well as topics that are vital for these, including exchange-rate forecasting, purchasing power parity and the ongoing sovereign debt crises. The objective is to learn the principles and practices associated with decision-making in multiple currencies. We will extend much of the material from prior finance courses—including investment, financing and risk management—to the multiple currency setting. Key issues related to international valuation and capital budgeting are how to use forecasts of exchange rates, how to use and forecast real exchange rates and how to take appropriate account of foreign risk. The course will be a useful introduction for managers dealing with international customers, suppliers, and business partners.
