Digital Tools for Speech Analysis. This course introduces students to the tools linguists use to record, measure and analyze speech, preparing students for their own linguistic research projects. The course will cover tools and techniques for making high-quality digital audio and video recordings, accurate spectra and spectrograms, and error-free pitch tracks, as well as creating scripts for extracting acoustic measures, changing acoustic values through resynthesis, and running online perception experiments.
