Senior Capstone Seminar
The culmination of the Medical Humanities minor is the senior level capstone seminar. The seminar allows students to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in their preceding courses to an original, summative project in medical humanities. In this shared learning environment, students will develop peer review and grant writing skills, and will workshop and present their work, bringing their diverse studies into conversation with each other. There will be guest lectures by experts in various content areas, as well as a forum for engagement with student mentors and community partners. Students will attend an 1.5-hour-seminar each week and be expected to complete at least 10 hours of community/service/fieldwork/experiential learning outside the class. We anticipate that many of these Capstone projects will be published in academic or media outlets, presented at conferences, and shared through the Medical Humanities Initiative's own website/digital archive.
