Iranology
Iranology is a one-credit course designed for advanced Persian language learners and taught entirely in Persian. We will take an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the civilization, history, art, and culture of Iranian peoples from the medieval to the contemporary period. We will have a wide geographic focus, discussing Iran alongside other regions that have significant Persian heritage such as Central Asia and the Caucasus. This will be a highly interactive course in which students read various texts, listen to podcasts, and watch documentaries. Through this course, students will develop a comprehensive and foundational understanding of Iranian cultures and societies.
