PHIL 2240

Beauty and the Good Life

3 Credits · Level: Undergraduate

We're attracted to beauty. But does beauty help or harm us? Should we care how things look and how we look to others? How does beauty relate to ideas of love, sex, and gender in different cultures? This course explores philosophical approaches to the value of beauty. Sources may be historical or contemporary and, in addition to philosophical texts, may include poetry, novels, and other arts.
