PSYC 3650
Adolescence and Emerging Adult
This course will review the many psychological and biological changes that occur across adolescence and into emerging adulthood. Students will explore the theories and research related to the psychological impact of puberty, changing relationships with parents, developing friendships and intimacy, changes in thought processes and decision-making, and the many factors that impact risk for psychological disorders common during this time (e.g., depression, eating disorders, delinquency, and substance abuse). Societal and cultural influences on the various changes perceived, felt, and observed during these adolescent and emerging adulthood periods will be highlighted.
