SPAN 0011
Intensive Basic Spanish
This course aims to develop students' ability to communicate in Spanish in everyday, practical situations -- whether in the U.S. or abroad -- and to help them acquire the skills necessary to understand oral and written texts, as well as to write in Spanish with a satisfactory level of accuracy. To reach these goals, students will focus on three key components: vocabulary development, language awareness, and active practice/participation. Different aspects of Hispanic culture will be introduced through readings and videos. Grading criteria include lexical breadth, grammatical accuracy, reading and listening comprehension skills, and basic knowledge of Spanish-speaking regions.
