Translation As A Way Out

3 Credits · Level: Graduate, Undergraduate

This course aims to introduce students to the methodologies and techniques necessary to succeed in non-specialized translation. The course is essentially practical, although some theoretical contents necessary to succeed in translation are also introduced. The course focuses on a number of useful techniques ad resources that are considered as translation tools. Throughout the semester we will look at translation from two different perspectives: both as a communication tool that allows societies to add new ideas to the collective imaginary, and as a tool that minoritized cultures rely on to gain visibility and to disseminate their cultural products, thus the title of the course, Translation as a Way out. This course is taught in Spanish and satisfies the HALC and Diversity-Domestic requirements. It has the HALC, Humanities: Arts, Literatures, and Cultures attribute.
