IntellectualProperty Valuation

1.5 Credits · Level: Graduate

Intangible assets comprise over 80% of the enterprise value of publicly traded companies and are increasingly important to the value and success of most businesses. Among the most important intangible assets are a company’s intellectual property (IP) assets. In this course, you will learn what IP covers, how different forms of IP can be used to enhance a firm’s competitive position in the marketplace, and how to assess and measure the value of IP assets using several tools that are used by real-world companies and outside economists. This course will involve classroom instruction, academic and practitioner articles, case studies, group projects, and a final exam. Classroom discussion will be a key element of this course.
