Cities in Business

1.5 Credits · Level: Graduate

Should your new headquarter be in Washington or New York? Should your next real estate investment be in Dallas or San Francisco? Many business decisions, directly or indirectly, require the ability to understand the evolution of local economies, from neighborhoods to metropolitan areas. This course provides a hands-on approach to understanding these dynamics and formulate expectations about their evolution. Groups of students are assigned two U.S. cities and are required to identify, with faculty’s help, a relevant business problem that involves a choice between them. The group provides an empirical analysis of primary data informed by the classes’ content, presents the solution of this business problem to the class, and discusses the solution of another group’s business problem.
