Fundamental principles of heat and mass transfer. The three modes of heat transfer are taught: conduction, convection and radiation. The physical principles of mass transfer are taught including diffusion and convection. Parallels and relationships between heat and mass transfer are highlighted. Fundamental principles of heat and mass transfer are applied to the analysis and design of unit operations including heat exchangers and mass separators. Prerequisites: CHE 144 and CHE 210
