HIST 138
Representing and Resisting US Empire
This course places the history of the United States into a global context, focusing primarily on the 20th century. We will cover how the United States became a global power, and why historians increasingly understand this trajectory as an imperial process. In addition, we will think critically about this history’s implications—for those within and outside U.S. borders, for those who were on the receiving end of U.S. power, and even for today’s world order.
