MAT 252
Electronic Properties of Materials
Electronic structure of materials, i.e., band and zone theory, is presented from a physical point of view. Electrical conductivity in metals, semiconductors, insulators and superconductors discussed. Simple semiconductor devices reviewed. Magnetic properties examined in the context of domain theory and applications. Optical and dielectric properties of semiconductors and ferroelectrics are considered. Prerequisites: MAT 203
