SOC 166
Money, Power, Prestige: Social Stratification
Who gets what and why? How does a person's social origin determine their social position later in life? Why do some groups maintain greater access to money and power than do others? Is wealth, influence, and prestige concentrated in a small group of 'power elite'? And when and why do the powerful fall? Course addresses these questions through the sociological study of stratification, with an emphasis on social mechanisms and processes. Attribute/Distribution: CC, SS, SW
