ANTH 3240
Social Life of Stories in Indigenous Canada
introduces students to a diversity of oral traditions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. Students will learn to engage with stories to understand the different ways knowledge can be passed from generation to generation: how oral traditions challenge Western understandings of authenticity and authorship, evidentiality and truth, materiality and spirituality, and the past and the present.
