Sustainable Cement and Concrete
Delves into the sustainability and advanced engineering of cementitious materials, emphasizing their environmental impact, cutting-edge innovations, and performance in the built environment. Covers a broad spectrum of topics, including: ancient and modern cementitious materials, materials selection and optimization, advanced materials characterization, durability and deterioration mechanisms, carbon footprint reduction, and comprehensive life cycle assessment. Students apply rigorous design thinking, collaborate on lab experiences, and conduct research-oriented projects through a concrete mix competition. Prepares students to solve real-world challenges in cement and concrete science, equipping them to meet the demands of sustainable engineering. Students taking graduate version complete additional assignments.
