Research in the World
Focuses on refining, reframing, and translating students' existing projects to provide an opportunity for them to explore the real-world applications of their research. Students bring an active research project (for example, a senior thesis, SuperUROP, or clinical collaboration) and class materials teach them to see it differently: through the lens of audience, design constraint, policy and cultural context, and real-world translation. Instruction combines lectures, workshops with external practitioners, and structured peer critique. Instruction focuses on refining, reframing, and translating work that already exists, equipping students with the analytical and communicative tools to move their research from the laboratory into the world. Provides instruction and practice in written and oral communication. Priority to Course 20 students; open to other departments with instructor permission. Limited to 20.
