3-0-9 units. HASS-H · Undergraduate

Explores texts and visual adaptations from the perspective of what they teach us about living and growing up — no matter how old one is. Focuses on how sensibilities, values, and social and personal identities are consolidated by our reading choices and practices. The instructor's personal experience and perspective defines the arc that binds the selected texts together; consequently, theme and focus varies from term to term. Topics taught may include: the Bildungsroman, books for children, learning to think, and becoming other. May be repeated for credit with instructor's permission.
