Demystifying Immunology for Everyone: The Immune System During States of Disease
Explores how the immune system behaves following inflammatory signals such as infection or chronic disease. Students read two papers and work in teams to digest and discuss the content of the papers and become familiar with modern methods and techniques applicable beyond immunology. Topics may include: humoral immunity and vaccination, antigen presentation and myeloid cell biology, functional and non-functional T cell responses in acute and chronic disease, and immunological memory. Additionally, students work in teams to identify an interesting open question in immunology, develop a hypothesis, and propose one experimental approach to test this hypothesis. Students taking graduate version explore the subject in greater depth.
