Explores experimental traditions in documentary media, beginning with nonfiction films that depart from conventional narrative forms and moving to documentary poetry, visual art, and emerging technologies. Topics include social movements, historical and personal archives, and networked media. Students primarily screen and analyze films and texts, supplemented by practical creative experiments. Graduate version includes additional research.
