Global Supply Chain Management
Develops modeling skills and intuition to optimize information flows, material flows, and financial flows in global supply chains. Categorizes the five reasons global supply chains are hard to optimize in practice: nonlinearity, volatility, opacity, complexity, and humanity. Case studies present real-world problems recent graduates solved applying the models developed in this course. Global supply chain problems are drawn from international sourcing of steel, distributing consumer packages goods around the globe, designing global supply chains for high-technology products, choosing the transportation mode that optimizes total landed profit, and defining the minimum viable supply chain in the presence of supply disruptions.
