STS.045
Alternatives: Indigenous Futurism and Science Fiction
Explores how Native science fiction imagines and enacts futurity. Foregrounds how science fiction functions as a mode of Indigenous theory and knowledge production by looking across numerous national contexts, in addition to different kinds of media, including short stories, novels, visual art, video games, and films. Pairing media readings with works in Science and Technology Studies (STS) and Indigenous Studies, examines the role of indigeneity in the founding and development of science fictive thought.
