Credit Hours: 4 · Graduate

This course is designed for students in the Master of Energy Economics (MEECON) program, offering advanced training in econometric methods with a focus on empirical applications in energy markets. The course emphasizes time series and panel data analysis, key for understanding energy trading, demand forecasting, and policy evaluation. Students will review key econometric techniques such as Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), ARIMA models, and handling seasonality, applying them to real-world energy data through practical lab sessions using Python. This course provides the empirical tools necessary to reinforce and apply the knowledge gained throughout the MEECON program, culminating in a final project where students analyze and forecast market demand for an energy commodity using interactive dashboards. Graduate/Undergraduate Equivalency: ECON 423 . Mutually Exclusive: Cannot register for ECON 623 if student has credit for ECON 423 .
