HEEQ 509
Toward Nutrition Equity: Canada’s Wicked Food Problem
Inflation, climate change, global conflict, and demographic changes have impacted the food supply and nutritional wellbeing of Canadians. Health advocates are increasingly called to consider the role food plays in health inequity in Canada as well as Canada’s role in addressing global food (in)justice. This course applies techniques for addressing “wicked problems” to explore the ways in which food security, food sovereignty, Indigenous food sovereignty, food warfare, and food democracy are intertwined. Prerequisites: HEEQ 501, 502. Three credits.
