History of Maritime Provinces: Pre-Confederation

This survey course examines the political, social, cultural and economic development of the Maritime Provinces from the 16th century to the 1860s. It will explore such topics as relations between Europeans and First Nations; the clash of empires; the Acadian Expulsion; the impact of immigrant cultures; the Age of Sail; and federation with Canada. Three credits. Not offered 2026-2027.
