Seminar: Research in Biochemistry—Molecular Mechanism of Cellular Barriers and Polarity
Research group meeting, two hours. Designed for participants in the Petrovic Lab. The Petrovic Lab focuses on the architecture of cellular barriers and the emergence of polarity by studying the structure and function of molecular assemblies such as the mammalian tight junction and the fungal polarisome using the tools of biochemistry, structural biology, and cell biology. Students demonstrate understanding of research ongoing in the Petrovic Lab, learn concepts and techniques through tutorials given by the principle investigator, present information relevant to safety, and appraise relevant scientific literature. Learning is through hands-on preparation of presentations about ongoing research projects and providing constructive criticism on others’ research presentations and literature presentations. S/U grading.
